When is the First Day of School for Dearborn Students?

Here's a look at the important dates for the upcoming academic year at Dearborn Public Schools.

The first day of classes for students at Dearborn Public Schools is a month away.

The 2013-14 academic calendar is now available and not only includes vacation days but also important testing dates.

Several factors determine the district calendar including state mandates, a county-wide common calendar, community needs, professional development obligations, and days decided through negotiations between the Board of Education and the Dearborn Federation of Teachers (DFT).

The 2013-2014 district calendar includes nine late start dates (four less than last year) that will be used for professional development and school improvement. The first of the nine late start dates will occur on Sept. 11, and will continue on various Wednesdays throughout the year.

Also included on the calendar are the dates of MEAP testing and MME/ACT testing.

The 2013-14 calendar will be posted on the district’s website and can be accessed by visiting http://dearbornschools.org/district/about-us/district-calendar. Visitors to the site can download a PDF version of the calendar or view an online calendar.
