Sorry to disappoint marooned, but the Commission is purely voluntary. No paychecks so no pecuniary interest and no "fuel." Still have my real day job. Once in awhile someone brings cookies to the meetings, though.

ReplyFrank I undestand exactly where you are coming from but the library system has cut spending to the bone while still maintaining services. Its director is hired by the commission unlike most other department heads who serve at the behest of city hall. Look at what's happened in Troy and other communities where millages failed. No more libraries for the most part. That's a tough way to make a point.
