The wintry weather is part of a widespread blanket of white set to fall in the Midwest this weekend.
Southeast Michigan—like much of the Midwest—can expect a fresh blanketing of snow Friday. According to the National Weather Service, Dearborn and surrounding areas can expect snowfall to start in the morning and continue into the afternoon, with a total accumulation of 1-3 inches expected. The precipitation could continue Sunday, with a 60 percent chance of snow and sleet in the area that evening. Another 1-2 inches of precipitation are expected. The wintry weather system is expected to sweep through the Midwest and head east over the weekend, adding to the tremendous Lake Effect snow seen in New York, Ohio and northern and western Michigan earlier this week. The NWS reports, however, that though the snow will be widespread, it will be …

Show us your snowy shots!
The salt trucks are out, and nearby, the sounds of snow shovels scraping pavement have begun. I've snapped a photo of the first major snowfall of the season from my front window (because that's about as far outside as I wanted to get). Are you going out to build a snowman with the kids, or keeping cozy in your living room? Share your snowy photos of Dearborn by clicking on the "Add Photos and Video" button!

Snow will start falling in the afternoon and continue into the evening.
Last year's wimpy winter will not be a repeat for Michigan, if this week is any indication. Following Christmas Eve's traffic-clogging snowfall—which ranged from a dusting to several inches in Metro Detroit—residents of Dearborn and surrounding areas can expect significant snow on Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the area, and is predicting up to seven inches of snowfall on Wednesday. Flurries could begin overnight, turning into a steady snowfall by the afternoon. The chance of snow, according to NWS, is 100 percent. Temperatures will drop into the high 20s by 10 a.m., and winds will pick up throughout the day, gusting as high as 26 miles per hour. Two to four inches of snow is expected in …

Expect snow showers and high wind throughout the day Friday, the official first day of winter.
Winter weather has arrived to Michigan right on time. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of southeastern, western and mid Michigan Friday. The advisory is in effect from 9 a.m.-midnight on Dec. 21—which also happens to be the official winter solstice. According to the NWS, Michigan can expect to see strong winds coming in from the northwest throughout the afternoon and evening. Gusts could be as high as 45 miles per hour. Snow showers will continue through the morning, but should stop by early evening. We can expect to see snow accumulation of around an inch in most areas, including Dearborn. Some areas of Michigan, however, could see as much as three inches of snow. The Dearborn Police Department …

The National Weather Service says to expect the white stuff this week in southeast Michigan.
Those dreaming of a white Christmas this year might see nothing short of a miracle Tuesday morning. The weather report for Dearborn is calling for rain showers on Thursday afternoon that will turn into snow by Friday, with temperatures ranging from 35 to 27 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The chance for precipitation is 100 percent on Thursday and 70 percent on Friday. There could be as much as an inch of snow by Saturday morning—not much, but enough to make Bing Crosby happy. If there is snow on the ground this weekend, it will likely hang around until the big day because temperatures are expected to range from 26 degrees Saturday night to 35 degrees on Christmas Day. As we head into winter, the Michigan Department of …
