High winds and snow flurries are expected to continue throughout the day.
A strong cold front in southeastern Michigan has brought high winds and lower temperatures to the region Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the region—including Dearborn—until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Winds are expected to pick up throughout the day, with "frequent" gusts as high as 45 miles per hour. Additionally, the NWS reports, temperatures will fall to around 24 degrees by 3 p.m., and snow showers are expected. Snow accumulation should be less than one inch. No major power outages have been reported in Dearborn as of Monday morning.
The passage of a cold front through southern Michigan will bring strong southwest winds to the region Monday, according to the National Weather Service. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the region—including Dearborn—from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday. Winds are expected to pick up throughout the day, ranging from 25 miles per hour to as high as 50 miles per hour in the afternoon and early evening. The good news is that the winds won't be bitterly cold, thanks to an above-average high temperature of 45 degrees Monday. There is a slight chance of snow showers throughout the day. DTE reports roughly 92,000 customers woke up without power and repairs are under way.
High winds whipped through southeast Michigan overnight, causing some widespread power outages. DTE reports nearly 92,000 customers awoke without power Sunday morning, the majority clustered in southern Oakland County and around Ann Arbor, according to the DTE Outage map. The Dearborn area appears to be largely unaffected as of 10 a.m. Sunday, though thousands of homes and businesses in Allen Park, Detroit and Taylor have been left without power. In Dearborn, less than 600 homes were affected—the majority of which are near the area of Warren Avenue from Schaefer to Wyoming. A wind advisory issued this morning will remain in effect through 8 p.m. Monday. Wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour are likely to affect southeastern Michigan as a cold front moves through the area.
Tree branches snapped and power went in and out at homes all over southeast Michigan Monday as high winds battered the area. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory about 11:45 a.m. Monday warning of 25 to 35 mile-per-hour winds with gusts reaching up to 50 miles per hour. The advisory is in effect unitl 8 p.m. The southwest winds were picking up as a cold front moves through southeastern Michigan. There are 17 counties on the advisory, including Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties. DTE reported about 1,091 people in Dearborn were without power Monday afternoon in the area of Outer Drive and Monroe Street. There are no estimates as to when power will be restored. A wind advisory is in effect for much of southeast Michigan through 11 p.m. Wednesday
High winds blowing throughout southeast Michigan on Wednesday have left thousands without power in Oakland, Wayne, Washtenaw and Macomb Counties. The worst of the outages has occurred in Oakland County. In Farmington and Farmington Hills, more than 8,000 homes and businesses are without power, according to DTE Energy. Another 2,000 or more outages are reported in West Bloomfield, as well as 1,000 in Bloomfield. Smaller outages have been reported elsewhere from southern Wayne County to northern Oakland and Macomb counties, including Canton, White Lake, Plymouth and Dearborn. Also, in Berkeley, high winds caused a tree to fall onto a car. The driver was not injured. DTE Energy has no estimates as to when power will be restored. The National …
