Power Out for More than 4,000 in Dearborn

Heavy storms cause outages sporadically across southeast Michigan–but DTE is unsure if all of Dearborn's outages are related to weather.

Update, 3 p.m. Sunday: Power to many of Dearborn's homes and businesses was restored faster than expected. By Sunday afternoon, outages were down to around 1,000 total across the city. Across the Detroit Edison service area, 103,000 customers remained without service as of Sunday afternoon, DTE reported. That number was down from a high of 117,000 Saturday night. DTE Energy reminds residents that they should still report any outages or downed power lines by calling 800-477-4747. City to Give Out Dry Ice to Residents Affected by Power Outages

Dry ice will be available at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center until the supply runs out.

The city of Dearborn is distributing dry ice to residents beginning at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Dry ice will be available until the supply runs out. Residents must bring their own cooler and proof of residency. The city has advised residents to look for signs directing them to the loading dock on the north side of the center, near the pond visible from Michigan Avenue. As temperatures in Dearborn climb toward 90 degrees, the effort is an attempt to help cool off the over one thousand residents–mostly on the city's west end–who are currently without power.
