Wayne County Drivers Can Expect Weekend Delays

The Michigan Department of Transportation cited road work this weekend on local freeways and roads.

Wayne County motorists can expect delays this weekend on Interstate 94, as construction will prompt a lane closure between Moross Avenue to French Road.  According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, I-94 westbound will have a single-lane closure from 9 p.m.-9 a.m. Friday and Saturday for lighting and sign work between the two roads. Both directions of Telegraph Road between Van Horn and West roads will also have single-lane closures beginning at 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Sunday for pavement work. In the Dearborn Heights area, southbound Telegraph Road just north of Van Born Road will have a right-lane closure from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, MDOT stated in a news release. Construction Alert: Southfield Freeway Work Continues

Construction on Interstate 94 and M-39 will affect Dearborn-area drivers this week according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. On the Southfield Freeway (M-39), southbound traffic at I-94 will be reduced to one lane from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work. In addition, northbound M-39 ramps to both eastbound and westbound I-94 will close beginning at 7 p.m. Friday and ending on Thursday, Oct. 19, for ongoing bridge work. Ramp traffic is directed to follow northbound M-39 to westbound US-12 to access I-94. On I-94, westbound traffic from Oakwood to Pelham will have two lanes closed from 10 p.m. Friday to  5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work. Construction on I-94 and M-39 will affect Dearborn-area drivers this week according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. Northbound and southbound M-39 (Southfield Freeway) will be reduced to a single lane under I-94 from 4 a.m.–9 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work. On Interstate I-94, there will be alternating single and double lane closures between I-96 and Michigan Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work. The ongoing ramp closure from Southfield Freeway onto Van Born will remain in place until late October, and detours will be posted. Your Guide to Labor Day Weekend Travel

Get the scoop on gas prices and which road construction projects in Michigan won't be suspended during the holiday.

Road trips this Labor Day weekend will be a mixed bag, with many Michigan construction projects suspended to make it easier for drivers to get out of town for one last summer getaway but gas prices up nearly a $1 since last year. Approximately 1.2 million motorists are expected to travel this holiday weekend, according to AAA Michigan, so the Michigan Department of Transportation has decided to remove lane restrictions on more than half of its road projects from 3 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Tuesday. "The majority of our work zones will be idle but some areas will have restrictions this weekend," State Transportation Director Kirk T. Steudle said. Dearborn, Regional Construction Continues with Few Breaks

Road construction still hobbles motorists across metropolitan Detroit, while causing slight disturbances in Dearborn's usual routes.

With temperatures heating up, motorists have even more headaches to worry about while on the roads this week. Local Construction In Dearborn, Gulley Road bridge construction north of Michigan Avenue is fully under way, detouring southbound traffic to Cherry Hill, Ford Road or Michigan Avenue. The project should wrap up in about a week. Also in west Dearborn, the block of West Village Drive between Mason and Monroe expected to be completed by Memorial Day is still closed, although the project appears to be days from reopening. That project began in April as part of city efforts to split water and sewer lines throughout the city. Local, Regional Construction Work Ramps Up

Roadwork picks back up this week, including a new project in Dearborn.

After a brief respite from the construction blues over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, work picks back up this week all across the metropolitan Detroit region. Local Construction In Dearborn, June 6 kicks off construction on the Gulley Road bridge, north of Michigan Avenue. The GV Cement Company will repair the bridge deck and bridge approaches on the north side. Northbound traffic will be maintained, while southbound traffic will be detoured. Drivers searching for a southbound route are advised to use Cherry Hill, Ford Road or Michigan Avenue to reach their destination. Road Work Takes Break for Memorial Day

The Michigan Department of Transportation is lifting most traffic restrictions for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Even construction goes on vacation. Motorists should expect to get a temporary reprieve from road construction this weekend as the Michigan Department of Transportation is suspending work on 75 out of the current 142 projects statewide over the Memorial Day holiday. The suspension of work begins at 3 p.m. Friday and continues through 6 a.m. Tuesday in an effort to aid the 1.1 million motorists who are expected to take to the roads this weekend, according to AAA Michigan. “The Memorial Day holiday is a great opportunity for motorists to experience and discover the natural beauty of our great state,” state Transportation Director Kirk T.
