WATCH: Dearborn Mayor, Residents Show Support for Obama at Henry Ford Fundraiser

President Barack Obama delivered an automotive-themed campaign speech to nearly 600 people Wednesday at the Henry Ford Museum.

The rescue of the American automotive industry and the ingenuity of the Detroit's workers was a major theme of President Barack Obama's speech Wednesday evening at a fundraiser held at The Henry Ford in Dearborn. Standing on a stage near an aircraft exhibit–and just a short distance from the presidential limousines used by his predecessors–Obama delivered his nearly 25-minute campaign speech to about 600 supporters. "When some politicians said, 'Let Detroit go bankrupt,' I placed my bets on American workers," said Obama, referencing the auto rescue in 2008. "Today GM is back on top as the number one automaker in the world. Chrysler is growing faster than any other car company. Ford is investing billions in plants and factories all across …

That was one poke among plenty, a headline sampling shows: Slate blogger …

Anyone who thinks rich Democrats in Washington do not drive two luxury cars have buried their heads in the sand. Besides,, who really cares unless you are trying to trash Romney and the GOP? It is …   more ›

U-M Students React to Obama's College Affordability Plan

Obama says colleges must be held accountable for increased tuition.

Editor's note: This story has been updated to reflect that Mark Bernstein is a candidate for U of M regent. ANN ARBOR — Following a whirlwind three-day tour across the country, President Obama told students at the University of Michigan on Friday that he will work with Congress and local colleges to keep higher education costs down. Addressing a packed house of 4,000 students and supporters at U-M's Al Glick Fieldhouse, Obama unveiled a Race to the Top initiative for colleges across the United States. "I don’t want to be in a country where we only are looking at success for a small group of people. We want a country where everybody has a chance," Obama said. Obama's plan proposes tying federal student aid to universities' tuition rates and…
