The storms may bring damaging winds and large hail to the county, including areas like Grosse Pointe, Dearborn and Downriver, according to the weather report. Dark skies are also expected throughout the week, with thunderstorms likely Tuesday and Wednesday and a 50 percent chance of rainfall Thursday, the weather service states.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Metro Detroit that will remain in effect through 6 p.m. Thursday. The NWS has also issued a hazardous weather outlook and flood watch for Southeastern Michigan with severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon. According to the NWS forecast, thunderstorms expected after 2 p.m. Thursday could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain. Winds may gust as high as 33 miles per hour. Snow showers are possible Friday night. A tornado watch means that weather conditions are right for tornadoes to form in the area. The flood watch is in effect through Friday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Dearborn and other communities in Wayne County beginning Wednesday afternoon. According to the NWS, a frontal boundary extending north into Southeast Michigan could produce rain showers and thunderstorms in the Dearborn area, dropping 2 to 4 inches of rain Wednesday through Friday. In the battle of spring vs. winter this week in Dearborn, winter is about to take the lead. Forecasters from the National Weather Service are calling for a chance of snow and freezing drizzle overnight. A "Hazardous Weather Statement" issued Thursday calls for a the freezing rain to develop after midnight in areas north of I-94, including most of Dearborn. There is a 90 percent chance of snow and freezing rain on Friday. "A fast-moving storm system will bring accumulating snowfall late Friday afternoon through Friday night," the statement reads. A winter storm is now expected to bring 3-6 inches of snow to the Dearborn area Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the area, in effect from 3 p.m. Tuesday through noon on Wednesday. Earlier predictions estimated the level of snowfall for the area to be anywhere from 3-10 inches. However, the NWS explained that though precipitation will begin to fall earlier on Tuesday, it will start out as rain, turn into sleet, and eventually a “heavy, wet snow” later in the day. Predictions from the National Weather Service are calling for as much as nine inches of snow in the Dearborn area this week as a winter storm moves into the southeast Michigan region on Tuesday. A strong cold front in southeastern Michigan has brought high winds and lower temperatures to the region Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Make plans for a wintry Saturday in Dearborn. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Wayne County and all of southeast Michigan for all of Saturday. A cold front pushing through the area will bring scattered snow storms and a total accumulation of 1 to 3 inches, according to the special weather statement. The passage of a cold front through southern Michigan will bring strong southwest winds to the region Monday, according to the National Weather Service. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the region—including Dearborn—from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday. Winds are expected to pick up throughout the day, ranging from 25 miles per hour to as high as 50 miles per hour in the afternoon and early evening.
