Not Your Usual Concert: Local Brass Band Prepares for Annual Festival

The Motor City Brass Band will host their annual Motor City Festival of Bands March 10 in Dearborn.

If you’re looking for a typical classical concert, stay away from the Motor City Brass Band. The band of more than 30 musicians doesn’t perform concerts, explains Musical Director and Conductor Craig Strain. They put on shows. The next will be their biggest of the season—literally. The Festival of Bands, happening Sunday, March 10, at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, will bring together more than 200 musicians from the MCBB, Birmingham Concert Band, Farmington Community Band, Oakland University Brass, and West Michigan Concert Winds. Contest: Share Your Love of Local Art, Win Tickets to the Festival of Bands

Tell us about the best arts organizations, galleries, exhibits and performances in your community and you could win tickets to the March 10 concert.

The Motor City Brass Band's Festival of Bands is about bringing together musicians from all over Michigan. In celebration of this harmonious event, Patch readers can win tickets to the March 10 show by sharing their love of local arts. What's Your Favorite Holiday Tune? Tell Us to Win Concert Tickets!

Between Dec. 3-10, we'll give the first 15 people to comment two tickets to see the Motor City Brass Band Dec. 16.

On Sunday, Dec. 16, the Motor City Brass Band will team up with the Dearborn Community Chorus to spin out holiday classics at its annual concert, Sounds of the Season. And we've got tickets to give to 15 lucky winners—all you have to do is tell us which tune gets you in the holiday spirit. MCBB will be playing their favorite holiday songs at 3 p.m., Dec. 16, in the Michael A. Guido Theatre at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center—like Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls. The sounds of the '60s are coming to Dearborn, and you can win free tickets to the show! The Motor City Brass Band will perform Sunday, May 20, at the Michael Guido Theater in the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. The concert, Peace Lovin' Brass, will include a broad selection of music that represented the theme of peace and love. Highlights from the concert will be well-known hits from the 1960s as well as patriotic works from America's past. Patch has partnered with the Motor City Brass Band to give away 30 pairs of tickets to the show. All you have to do is tell us about the music from the '60s you love.
