Farm Rich Product Recall Affects Kroger Stores

Customers with Kroger Plus Cards who purchased the products will receive notifications by phone and on their register receipts.

If you have a Kroger Plus Card and purchased Farm Rich products subject to a recent recall due to possible E. Coli contamination, expect to hear from the retail chain.   On Friday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Safety Inspection Services (FSIS) announced Farm Rich products is voluntarily recalling 196,222 pounds of product. At this time, the recall only affects 22-ounce Farm Rich mini pizza slices, with a “best buy” date of May 15 or May 16, 2014, in the Kroger Michigan Division. The product UPC code is 41322 35643. “All Kroger customers who purchased the recalled product using their Kroger Plus Card will receive a phone call and a message on the bottom of future receipts stating the recalled product was purchased,” said Dale…

Groceries Reported Stolen From 2 Dearborn Krogers

Thefts of hundreds of dollars in groceries were reported stolen from two Dearborn Kroger stores within the past week, according to Dearborn police reports. Both thefts occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 16. The pharmacist at the Kroger at 23303 Michigan Ave.—near Outer Drive—told the manager that she saw a man leave the store with a cart full of groceries that he did not pay for. The manager called police, who responded while the man was tossing the goods into the bed of his Ford Ranger pick-up truck. According to the report, police officers grabbed the cart with groceries still in it, but the man was able to get away with the rest of the loot. It was not clear how much the man was able to steal. Gleaners Teams Up with Kroger to Raise Funds, Donations

Hope at the Table volunteers will gather monetary and food donations at Dearborn Kroger locations this Saturday.

This month, Gleaners Community Food Bank and Kroger are working together to bring hope to the tables of hungry southeast Michiganders. Each Saturday in January, volunteers will spend their day at local Kroger grocery stores across southeast Michigan, handing out information about the Bringing Hope to the Table initiative, as well as accepting donations of nonperishable food and money from shoppers. Volunteers will be out at the Dearborn area Kroger stores this Saturday, Jan. 5, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., in addition to other locations in Wayne County. Kroger Breast Cancer Campaign Runs Through End of October

All store donations will benefit the American Cancer Society and Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Kroger customers can help fight breast cancer on behalf of a special person during Kroger’s autumn breast cancer campaign, which has already begun and will go through the end of October. Customers may purchase a pink ribbon for $1 at any Kroger register and all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Customers also can help by making a coin box donation to benefit breast cancer awareness and research. Check Your Refrigerator Shelves for Recalled Kroger Spinach

The grocery store chain asks customers in 15 states to return the product, because of possible listeria contamination.

The Kroger Co. is asking all Michigan customers, and those in 14 other states, to check their refrigerators for certain Kroger Fresh Selections Tender Spinach 10-ounce packages, which are being recalled due to possible listeria monocytogenes contamination. Pregnant women or people with weakened immune systems could suffer severe illness after eating listeria monocytogenes. According to an alert issued by the Food and Drug Administration, the product is supplied by NewStar Fresh Foods LLC, has UPC code 0001111091649 and a "best if used by" date of Sept. 16. Any opened or unopened products should not be consumed and should be returned by customers to their local Kroger store for a full refund or replacement. UPDATE: Police Arrest 3 for Robbery of Dearborn Kroger

Dearborn police have arrested three men on charges of armed robbery, the department announced Monday. According to police, the men have been charged in connection with the June 27 armed robbery of the Kroger supermarket on Michigan Avenue near Greenfield Road. The robbery occurred around 7:30 p.m. Xzavier Warren, 18; Damario Gardner, 18; and Theo Alderman, 20, were all charged with the felony offense of armed robbery. Warren and Gardner were also charged for conspiracy. All three Detroit residents were arraigned in Dearborn's 19th District Court. According to Lt. Dearborn Kroger Joins Pure Michigan Push for Local Groceries

Through television commercials and in-store promotions, Kroger is bringing Michigan Made products to the forefront of its shelves in response to consumer demand for local products.

Visit the dairy case at any Kroger store in the state this week and you’ll see the first feature of the company’s partnership with Pure Michigan to promote locally raised and made foods.  Kroger brand milk is the star of the newest Pure Michigan television commercial and the first consumer packaged good to be featured in the state’s iconic advertising campaign. Kroger Recalls Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes

Kroger is recalling Aunt Jemima frozen pancakes for because they may contain soy. The supermarket chain is also making automated phone calls to inform customers about the recall.

Kroger stores are recalling certain Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes because they may contain soy protein. According to a release from Pinnacle Foods Group LLC, the parent company for Aunt Jemima, people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy protein may run the risk of an allergic reaction if they consume this product. Pinnacle issued the voluntary recall after it discovered "there may have been a potential cross-contact with product that contained soy protein being produced on the same equipment" according to the release. The company has no reports of illness, and the Food and Drug Administration has been made aware of this recall.
