Dearborn Man Arrested for Heights Hit and Run

The man was also charged with an OWI offense in Dearborn.

A Dearborn man is in custody for a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Dearborn Heights Wednesday. According to WDIV, 24-year-old Steven Damian was hit by a truck while walking on Telegraph Road by Van Born Street around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. A witness described the offending vehicle as a blue 2012 Ford F-150 with damage to its passenger side, including a missing mirror. Dearborn police responded to a call from someone who said they saw a vehicle matching that description just after noon on Wednesday, according to police reports. Officers stopped the driver in the parking lot of Mike's Party Store as he was attempting to leave. The man was asked to exit the vehicle and Dearborn Heights police responded to the scene. Generally, in Michigan, a breathalyzer is required to be installed on one's car after a second offense - and that's after they've "earned" their license back. Also, the machine requires that the driver blow into it repeatedly throughout their trip, so it's hard to "cheat."
