A Wayne State University student helped organize a jazz clinic for Dearborn Public Schools jazz musicians.

When high school is over, teens become adults and hobbies either fall away—or turn into lifelong pursuits. A 2011 Fordson High School graduate is hoping to ensure that for some Dearborn students, jazz music becomes the latter. Hassan Saleh, now a Wayne State University music major, wanted to give high school students in jazz bands at all three of Dearborn’s public high schools an opportunity to learn from his current classmates. His dream became a reality this Tuesday when WSU held a jazz clinic at Fordson for a few dozen students. Saleh said he came up with the idea with a fellow student.
