Test Drive for Pets at Fairlane Ford in Dearborn

The adoption event with the Dearborn Animal Shelter will run 12-6 p.m. today.

Today only, a test drive of the 2013 Ford Escape could mean big benefits for the Dearborn Animal Shelter. The Fairlane Ford dealership in Dearborn is hosting Test Drive for Pets from 12-6:30 p.m. Thursday, and is inviting animal and car-lovers alike to check out some new Ford vehicles for a good cause. Fairlane Ford President Julie Turla and Ford Motor Company have committed to donating $50 per test drive to the shelter. Turla and husband Gary, both animal lovers, have committed to helping the shelter. They share their home with three formerly stray cats: Seymour, Roland, and Fergus. In fact, Seymour was found under the hood of a Fusion that came in for an oil change. The Thursday event will also have a prize wheel for giveaways, as well …

Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter hosted a day of cuddling with kittens, test driving new cars and adoptions at Fairlane Ford on Tuesday.

Car shoppers who visited Fairlane Ford on Tuesday were presented with an unusual opportunity: take home a new cat and a new car. Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter hosted a Feline Fun Day from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday at the Dearborn dealership. The event including contests, information about shelter programs and volunteering, and the chance for visitors to find a kitty companion of their own. People were also invited to test drive new Ford cars, trucks and SUVs. For each test drive, Fairlane Ford is donating $100 to the shelter. Fairlane Ford owner Julie Turla said her dealership was happy to host the event. "We want to help all these animals find their forever homes," she said.
