Play Ball! Registration Open for Dearborn Adult Softball Leagues

Get in shape and enjoy team camaraderie this summer on a local league.

This summer, you can watch the Tigers at Comerica Park, or play a little ball of your own in Dearborn. Registration opened March 4 for the Dearborn Recreation and Parks Department's Adult Summer Softball Leagues. For the 2013 season, teams may register for 14-week Spring/Summer leagues at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center. The entry fee for one game per week divisions is $560/team; for two game per week divisions, $840/team. Divisions include women-only, men-only, men over 50, men over 40, and coed leagues. Dearborn Trail Extension Grant Request Approved by State Board

The Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund board advised the Legislature to fund 76 recreation and development projects in 2013.

The City of Dearborn’s grant request to help fund the extension of the Rouge River Gateway Trail will move on for approval by the state Legislature, the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund announced this week. The MNRTF board of trustees included the $280,000 grant request in its list of 76 recreation and development projects and land acquisitions totaling $23,538,700 that the board recommended to be funded in 2013 by the state. Dearborn’s project—the only one included in the list from Wayne County—would extend the trail from its current start point near Andiamo Dearborn west to Ford Field, wrapping around the back of the restaurant and exiting onto Brady Street near Morley.
