The kickoff for the Dearborn Animal Shelter Mutt Strut happens Tuesday, March 19.
Stretch your paws on Tuesday, March 19, as the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter celebrates hosts a launch event for the annual Mutt Strut and Pet Expo. The drop-in event will be held 6-8 p.m. in the auditorium of the Henry Ford Centennial Library, located at 16301 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn. This launch party is open to the public, but is especially geared toward animal lovers interested in raising much-needed funds for community rescues. Attendees will learn more about how to get involved with Mutt Strut, which takes place on Saturday, May 11. “Retrieve” your Mutt Strut pledge packet to get a “paw” up on your competition to win Leader of the Pack Prizes. The annual event raises money and wags tails for the Dearborn Animal Shelter.
Hundreds of dogs and their two-legged owners participated in Saturday's Dearborn Mutt Strut and Pet Expo at Ford Field. Hosted by the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter, the event is one of the biggest fundraisers for the shelter, bringing in tens of thousands of dollars each year. Along with the many particpants in the "strut" around downtown west Dearborn, dog lovers from all over the area could browse a wide array of dog-themed booths and businesses. Dearborn Patch is going to the dogs. This Saturday, come hang out with Patch at the Dearborn Mutt Strut, hosted by the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter. Campbell's Paint & Wallpaper is working to make the Dearborn Animal Shelter's Mutt Strut even more fun for walkers, their dogs–and local businesses. For several years, the west downtown Dearborn business has taken advantage of the walk route of the annual shelter fundraiser event, which brings hundreds of Mutt Strut participants and their pooches right past their door on Garrison Street. Each year, they hand out doggie treat bags with a coupon for their business attached. Mary Ray, owner of Campbells, explained that for this year's Mutt Strut–which takes place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Ford Field Park–she encouraged other local businesses to do the same.
