How does a business truly make an impact in the community they serve? For Dearborn Federal Credit Union, the answer comes with a 10 year, $100,000 partnership with the Dearborn Education Foundation. A decade ago, the DFCU leadership team decided to make a strong commitment to education in the Dearborn community. A milestone in that commitment was realized this month when Theresa Fox, Caryn Solferino and the rest of the DFCU team presented DEF Executive Director Eddie Fakhoury with their annual $10,000 check placing them at the $100,000 level of giving. Kevin Watson faces a mandatory life sentence for the decade-old crime.
A Detroit man was found guilty of a 2001 robbery of an armored car, as well as the murder of the guard handling the money for Dearborn Federal Credit Union's Fairlane branch, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Wednesday. Kevin Christopher Watson, 41, was found guilty following a jury trial in federal court. Watson was convicted of Conspiracy to Commit Bank Robbery, Bank Robbery Murder, and First-Degree Murder With a Firearm During a Federal Crime of Violence. According to evidence presented during the trial, which began Nov. 7 in front of District Judge Victoria A. Roberts, Watson and five other suspects robbed armored car guards attempting to deliver money to ATMs at DFCU outside of Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn on Dec. 14, 2001. The…
