Patch takes you on a tour of Dearborn's best lights.
If your Christmas tradition includes driving through neighborhoods to view homes decorated festively for the holidays, check there homes, selected by the Dearborn City Beautiful Commission for special recognition. Our Deck the House finalist is on the list, too, so after you see their awesome display, be sure to vote for their house to win $100,000 for Dearborn Public Schools! The owners of these homes will be honored during a ceremony in January, but to catch their lights and cheerful displays you will need to see them before then. Our interactive map gives you an address-by-address guide to the city's best and brightest holiday displays. Think you have the best holiday lights in Dearborn? Nominations are now being accepted for the City Beautiful Commission’s annual “Dearborn Aglow” holiday home decoration judging. Nominations must be in by 5 p.m. Dec. 13, and can be made by calling 313-943-2415, or emailing citybeautiful@ci.dearborn.mi.us. Then, on Dec. 15-17, City Beautiful commissioners will be out traversing the town from 6-10 p.m. each evening, searching for the most impressive Christmas holiday light and decoration displays. Winners will be recognized at a ceremony in January and receive commemorative awards. And if you really want to show off your holiday decorations? Patch chats with a City Beautiful commissioner to learn what it takes to win Dearborn's best and brightest holiday award.
For Dearborn's City Beautiful Commission, the Dearborn Aglow holiday award isn't just about how many inflatable Santas you can fit in your front yard, or if you're home is so bright it can be seen from space. It's about style, sophistication and pride in your home. City Beautiful Commissioner Debbie Clark–an eight-year commission member and previous winner of Dearborn Aglow–took Dearborn Patch on a tour of her neighborhood for the annual judging this week to give an inside look at the process of how homes are chosen, and what it takes to be given the coveted title of Hall of Famer. Everyone doesn't have to do the "Martha Stewart" cookie cutter mentality to have a unique Holiday display." Chevy Chase" decorations have a following also. Just ask the dozens of people who visit our home every night and sit out front to watch the animated display change with the music.   more ›
