Attempted Car Thefts Thwarted by Watchful Dearborn Residents

The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Multiple attempted and actual car thefts were reported within close vicinity to one another Monday, according to Dearborn police reports. In two cases, residents witnessed the acts and scared away the would-be thieves. Around 12:30 a.m., a resident of the 7700 block of Manor saw suspicious people standing near his neighbor's Dodge Stratus, which was parked on Morross between Miller and Manor. The man looked out his window and saw that two men were also in the front seats of the car. Once they saw that they were being watched, all four men ran from the scene. The men were described as black males—two between the ages of 16-18 and wearing all black; and two between the ages of 18-22, one wearing all black and the other wearing black pants …

I'll move to one of northern Mich. places when I'm good and ready, where I punched my own wells, and it didn't cost anywhere near your guesstimate. Sounds like you live in west Derborn and never get litter from your careless neighbor, pedestrians, or tossed from cars in your front yard. I fill a 30 gallon garbage can on a bi-weekly basis, trying to keep my place nice while an assorted variety of …   more ›

we use a club on both our vehicles. Make sure you put the longer edge toward the floor and shorter edge toward the top of the steering > that helps because the longer ends can easily break the windshield and then you got that problem even if they don't get away with the car. I got that tip from an older black gentleman that seen me putting it on 'upsidedown', in Kroger parking lot   more ›

Benihana Car Theft Second in a Week

A second restaurant employee has reported a stolen car during the week of Christmas. Other reported crimes are a TV stolen from a fitness center and an attempted purse snatching.

Less than a week after a Benihana employee reported that his 1994 Oldsmobile was stolen from the restaurant's parking lot while he was at work on Dec. 18, another employee reported a car theft. At 4 p.m. Dec. 24, an employee of the restaurant, at 18601 Hubbard Dr., parked his girlfriend's 2002 Dodge Intrepid in the parking lot and went in to work. At 7 p.m., he went out to the parking lot and the vehicle was gone. A GPS and his girlfriend's Social Security card were inside the car. There is no sign as to whether the car thefts are related. Overnight on Dec. 23, a 37-inch flat-screen television worth around $600 was pulled off the wall and stolen from the fitness center at Lincoln Lane Apartments. The TV was stolen between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m…
