Presidential Inauguration 2013: Where, What and Who to Watch

Here's your guide to the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

The Presidential Inauguration takes place Monday, Jan. 21, in Washington, D.C. The week of festivities will include the Presidential Swearing-in Ceremony, Inaugural Address, Inaugural Parade and numerous inaugural balls and galas honoring President Barack Obama for his second term. The official theme for the 2013 inauguration is “Faith in America’s Future." Some Dearborn residents—along with the Henry Ford Community College Big Band and Midnight Blue jazz groups—will be heading to the capitol for the big day. But for those of us who will just be watching from home, here's a look at what to expect. HFCC Bands to Perform at Presidential Inauguration

Inauguration Day events take place Jan. 21 in Washington, D.C.

Henry Ford Community College is going to Washington! The Dearborn college's premiere jazz ensemble, Big Band, and their vocal jazz group Midnight Blue, have been invited to perform at the Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 21 in Washington, D.C. This will be the Big Band's fourth consecutive inaugural performance. The band, formed in 1981, is well known both locally and in the jazz world internationally. They've played the Detroit International Jazz Festival, and last summer, they performed in Europe at the Jazz a Juan Jazz festival in Juan-les-Pins on the French Riviera. There, HFCC shared the stage with such renowned musical artists as Norah Jones, Bobby McFerrin, Sonny Rollins and Tom Jones, and the London Gospel Choir, among others. …
