Jim Hearn of Palm Harbor, Florida, died unexpectedly on March 19.
Jim Hearn, 71, a former resident of Dearborn, died from a sudden illness on March 19. Hearn was the founder of Hungry Howie’s Pizza & Subs. “It was a complete shock”, said Barry Devine, director of marketing for Hungry Howie’s. “He had just beaten cancer with his usual unassuming manner and great sense of humor. This illness came out of no where.” Hungry Howie’s is the nation’s 11th largest pizza company. Hungry Howie’s grew from the small hamburger joint that Hearn purchased in 1973 in Taylor, to more than 550 locations nationwide with two food distribution centers in Florida and Michigan. Ali Hachem, 15, passed away Sunday from a heart attack.
The Dearborn community is reeling after the sudden death of a 15-year-old resident. Ali Hachem, a sophomore at Fordson High School, passed away Sunday from an apparent heart attack. A vigil was held Wednesday at Fordson to memorialize the teen.

George Z. Hart—who represented Dearborn as a city councilman, a Wayne County commissioner and a state senator—passed away Jan. 31 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, according to family members. He was 88. Mayor Jack O’Reilly was Hart’s Chief of Staff in Lansing in 1980 through 1982 and again briefly in 1987 after chairing his 1986 campaign. He said he remembers the gregarious Hart as a people-oriented politician, who loved shaking hands and working the crowd, and who was usually in tune with his constituency. Literally.
