I don't know if it's Patch's fault or publicity folks for these events. I will mention to someRead More folks I know with the Symphony group that they need to submit their events in advance to this valuable on line resource. Some of those people also know folks at the Henry Ford Estate, so it should get around.

Too bad Dearborn Patch doesn't publicize events in advance. This isn't the first time this hasRead More happened.

Hello Bitsy, The article was published on the site on May 15. It appeared in the newsletter on MayRead More 18. What do you mean, "What is going on with Dearborn Patch?"
Sue Suchyta May 2, 2013 at 02:25 pm
Thank you for the great publicity. A few notes: Brett Reynolds is not related to Diana, Dave, andRead More Jade Reynolds, at least not that they know of! Michael Suchyta got his cello for free from a family friend, and his family paid for its repair and a new bow. He also learned to play part of the cello piece -- the entire Sondheim compostion is very difficult, and a cellist in the orchestra covers the more difficult sections while Michael as Henrik Egerman sings a duet and trio and pretends to play. I encourage people to come see the show -- it runs weekends through May 19 at the Players Guild of Dearborn. Go to www.playersguildofdearborn.org or call (313) 561-TKTS for more information.

I am so thrilled that Dearborn will try out something for the "younger set" ... both myRead More daughters are interested in this group and are planning to attend. What a great way to get to know some new friends from around Dearborn ... and have an enjoyable evening at a beautiful venue ... Thanks FORTE and thanks to the Dearborn Symphony for a top quality, fantastic orchestra ...

Dearborn needs to cultivate organizations such as FORTE that will draw younger dynamic people intoRead More our city without compromising our more mature population. Thanks to the Dearborn Symphony for sponsoring this networking opportunity, which, along with projects such as ArtSpace will help not only preserve our cultural history but built upon it.

Posting this article conspicuously on the Dearborn Patch website is a good way to bring out theRead More bigots.

Ruined has been entered at the participating level in the Kennedy Center American College TheatreRead More Festival (KCACTF), which identifies and promotes outstanding work in college level theater production. The department previously entered their Virtual Technology Lab production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest in 2004, winning a regional award.

The Dearborn branch of the American Association of University Women commends HFCC for doing such aRead More challenging play. April has been declared "Sexual Assault Awareness Month" in the United States. Ideally, the production at HFCC will help raise public awareness about the ongoing issue of sexual violence. Education and advocacy about such matters are major goals for the American Association of University Women. Recently, UM-D featured a screening of the Academy Award-nominated-documentary, “The Invisible War,” which explores the horror of rape among members of the United States armed services. Visit <www.aauw.org> for more information. They have a useful article entitled "10 Ways to Mark Sexual Assault Awareness Month." Our branch website is <dearborn-mi.aauw.net> .

last year & again this year I missed this performance because I never got any emails from youRead More even though I have submitted my email in 2011 and in 2012. Hope to hear from you this year about additional concerts - email aewhiteae@yahoo.com

Sunday's concert was a tribute to the dedication of the students, as well as the professionalism ofRead More the conductors. Kudos to the DYS organization and their many volunteers. Margaret Schaefer, President of the Friends of the Dearborn Symphony

The great thing about Dearborn in particular is that what all of the different cultures bring theRead More community as a whole. Here in Dearborn we are exposed to all different types of art be it historical, creative or musical. I'm happy to see the love affair with Art explode more into the public eye here in Dearborn. As Jessica says above, check out the Nagler exhibit. I took some classes from him in the past and the man is a cultural icon for Michigan, he studied with Ansel Adams the pioneer of American landscape photography. If you get to be there when he is around, stop and talk to him, he's got some great stories.

Dearborn is a great place for artists and art enthusiasts for many reasons. Art around theRead More town...have you noticed the incredible sculptures throughout downtown? Wonderful! Music everywhere...from summer concerts in the parks to the performing arts center, there is something for everyone! Young musicians, old musicians and everyone in between! Theater productions galore!...the players' guild, the DHS Thespians (I am soooo excited to see Beauty and the Beast in a few weeks!) Dearborn is a great place to be an artist and to partake!

My favorite concert was August 8th, 1974 at then Pine Knob, we were there to see Joni Mitchell. SheRead More stopped the concert midway and announced Richard Nixon had resigned and went to say something to her band. She then stated playing/singing the national anthem, as we all did with lighters lit. I truly believed the country started to heal right, then and now.

Had to be the early 70s when opening night was Detroit's academy awards. We all waited outside forRead More one person. Hank the Dues's wife to show up in her dress she would almost be wearing. Great times. Limos everywhere. No Hank though. Meadow Brook was good until basket search.
