New Winter Market, a 'Cash Mob' and More This Weekend in Dearborn

"Cash Mob" at Village Picture Frame & Art Gallery:
-On the 20th of every month, the Dearborn Area Chamber selects one local business to “Cash Mob," in which people are notified ahead of time to show up at a certain location with cash in hand to help support that business.

This month's Cash Mob will be held this Friday at the Village Picture Frame & Art Gallery in west Dearborn. The event will start at 2 p.m. For more information go to www.dearbornareachamber.org.

2013 Mayor Guido Basketball Showcase:
-The Mayor Michael A. Guido Holiday Basketball Showcase is held every year in memory of the late Dearborn Mayor Michael Guido, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2006. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Michael A. Guido Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund at the Karmanos Cancer Institute.

The first round of games will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Dearborn High School. The second round will be held on Monday, Dec. 23. Click here to see a full game schedule.Dearborn Free Methodist Church Christmas Concert:
-The Dearborn Free Methodist Church Choir will give a free performance of "Jesus, Our Emmanuel," a concert of time-honored and contemporary Christmas music, on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m. The performance will be held at the Dearborn Free Methodist Church, 2801 S. Telegraph Rd. Light refreshments will be served after the show.
Dearborn Shelter Adoption Event Saturday:
-The Dearborn Animal Shelter will be hosting a special adoption event this Saturday, Dec. 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Friends Training Center in Dearborn.

Free Winter Market Starting Sunday:
-The City of Dearborn, the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce and the Dearborn Farmer’s and Artisan Market have joined forces to present a new Winter Market one Sunday each month during the off season.

The Winter Market is opening for the first time this Sunday, Dec. 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside the Hubbard Ballroom of the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center.
