Detroit Jazz Festival and Other Labor Day Weekend Events Around Dearborn

Here's a look at five events happening in and around Dearborn this weekend.

Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end to the summer season. Before heading out with friends and family this weekend, take a look at some fun events happening in or around Dearborn.

1. Camp Dearborn End of Summer Bash

End the summer season with a little rock 'n roll. A live (to be determined) band will perform at Camp Dearborn in Milford on Saturday. Tent and cabin reservations are mostly booked, but day-long visitors are welcome, too. For information, call 248-684-6000.

2. Paint-n-Party at Frame World  

Frame World in Dearborn Heights will host a paint-n-party event for children from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Call (313) 561-4500 for reservations.

3. Arts, Beats & Eats

Head on down to Royal Oak Aug. 30-Sept. 2 for the annual Arts, Beats & Eats festival. Visit http://www.artsbeatseats.com/ for a full schedule of events.

4. Designing Tomorrow: America's Worlds Fairs of the 1930s Exhibit at the Henry Ford Museum

This is the last weekend to the view the Worlds Fairs exhibit at The Henry Ford. Millions of Americans traveled to these shows for a glimpse of the future. See nearly 150 artifacts, including Elektro the Moto-Man robot. For tickets, visit http://www.thehenryford.org/.

5. Detroit Jazz Festival

The world's largest free jazz festival will take place once again over Labor Day weekend, spanning from Hart Plaza to Campus Martius in Detroit. Notable acts include 2013 Artist-in-Residence Danilo Prez and the David Murray Big Band with Macy Gray. There will also be fireworks, late-night jam sessions and more.
