Dearborn Symphony Orchestra Opens 52nd Season on Friday

The weekend is upon us, and here are a few family-friendly events happening around Dearborn.

1. Dearborn Symphony Orchestra "Spectacular Take-Off"

The Dearborn Symphony Orchestra will open its 52nd season at 8 p.m. on Friday at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature guest pianist Christopher O'Riley. For tickets call 313-565-2424.

2. Antique Appraisal Clinic

An antique appraisal clinic will be offered to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Dearborn Historical Museum’s McFadden-Ross House, 915 Brady St. The clinic will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. You must register at the event in order to participate, and you must register by 3:30 p.m. For more information, call 313-565-3000.

3. Fall Flavor Weekends at Greenfield Village

Savor the aroma of soups simmering, beer brewing an cider pressing this weekend at Greenfield Village. Weekends are free to members and free with Greenfield Village admission. For more information, visit the website.

4. Dearborn/Dearborn Heights CROP Hunger Walk

The Dearborn CROP Hunger Walk will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Livonia. CROP Hunger Walks supports Church World Service and local charities. For information, call 313-565-0562.

5. Odu Afrobeat Orchestra Concert

The Concert of Colors series continues at the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn on Friday at 7:30 p.m. This week's concert features the Odu Afrobeat Orchestra.

Despite forming 10 years ago, Odu has remained a well-kept musical secret in the Detroit music scene. The lineup has been a diverse representation of that city - a band where Nigerian drummers, free jazz elders, indie rockers and Detroit Soul players have all bent to the singular vision of leader Adeboye Adegbenro.
