Dearborn Historical Museum's 'Teddy Bear Picnic' Set for Saturday

Children can enjoy lunch on the lawn of the Dearborn Historical Museum and compete for prizes.

The Museum Guild of Dearborn will host its annual "Teddy Bear Picnic" on the grounds of the Dearborn Historical Museum on Saturday.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to the public.

"(The picnic) is a chance for kids and families to spend time together and have fun with their neighbors," a museum volunteer said.

Festivities kick-off at 10 a.m. with a Teddy bear contest. Children can enter their stuffed animals into multiple categories to win prizes. Categories include: Most loved bear, Owner Look-a-like, Largest Bear, and Furriest Bear.

A Teddy bear parade will take place at 11 a.m. The grand prize winner of the parade will receive a gift basket from A&W, the event's sponsor. Second prize is a new stuffed bear, and third prize is a bag of books.

Following the parade, a lunch on the museum lawn will take place at noon. Children and families can bring a bag lunch and enjoy root beer and ice cream courtesy of A&W.

The Dearborn Historical Museum is located at 915 S Brady St. The fee for the picnic is 50 cents per child. For more information, call 313-565-3000.
