Food Truck Rally, Concordia University Center Opening Top Events in Dearborn

Here's a look at some of the activities happening in Dearborn this week.

It's the start of a new week, and there's plenty of events happening around town. Here's a look at our top five picks.

1. Culinary Walking Tours

The Arab American National Museum will host a guided walking tour in Detroit’s historic Eastern Market at 1 p.m. on Sept. 17. Participants will learn the history of Arab-Americans in Metro Detroit, and the long history of Arab merchants in and around Eastern Market. Participants will also explore the diverse current offerings of Arab and Middle Eastern food businesses at Eastern Market. Admission is free but online RSVP is required at www.arabamericanmuseum.org/yallaeat.

2. Concordia University Dearborn Center Grand Opening

Concordia University Dearborn Center will host a grand opening on Sept. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. The public is invited to tour the facility and receive information about the accelerated degree program that will be offered. Dedication and ribbon cutting takes place at 4:30 p.m.

3. AAUW-Dearborn branch used-book sale  

The AAUW-Dearborn branch will host its 62nd annual used-book sale on Sept. 19-21 at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center located at 14900 Ford Road.

Doors will open to the public from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.

4. Food Truck Rally

The West Dearborn Downtown Development Authority's Food Truck Rally will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 20 at the parking lot one, between The Well and Moose's. For more information, visit http://www.dearbornwestonline.com/.

5. Free Organ Concert

A free pipe organ concert featuring artist David Wagner will be held Sept. 22 at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Dearborn, 600 North Brady St. A reception will follow the concert.
