Engineering Job Fair, Victorian Festival Top Area Events This Week

1. Engineering Society of Detroit Job Fair

More than 40 companies and 2,000 jobs will be available at The Engineering Society of Detroit Engineering and Technology Job Fair from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. For more information, visit the ESD website.

2. Sept. 11 Interfaith Service

An interfaith service of prayer and remembrance will be held Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Hemlock Park shelter in Dearborn. The event is open to the public.

3. How To Win Friends And Influence People

One of the best known motivational books in history: Since it was released in 1936, How to Win Friends and Influence People has sold more than 15 million copies. Come discuss the book from 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 18 at Henry Ford Centennial Library.

4. YEA! Informational Meeting

YEA! helps middle and high school students take their entrepreneurial skills to a new level in a yearlong academic program that gives students a project-based, hands-on, experiential education. YEA! meets every Tuesday from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at UM-Dearborn beginning Oct. 22 and ending June 10, 2014. The application deadline for the Young Entrepreneurs Academy is Sept. 30. An informational meeting is set for 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce.

5. 25th annual Victorian Festival

Journey back through time to a simpler era with a visit to Downtown Northville's annual Victorian Festival Sept. 13-15. Experience the art, history, and romance of the 1800s amid Northville's historic downtown district. For more information, visit http://www.northville.org/.
