Women-Only Event to Raise Funds for Dearborn Animal Shelter

Dames 4 Dogs happens this Friday and promises comedy, shopping, drinks and great food–for women only.

Women love their dogs, and in the spirit of that special bond between females and canines, Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter is hosting an evening of comedy, shopping, mingling and great food–for women only.

Dames 4 Dogs will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the banquet center. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door for this estrogen-filled night of fun for all women who love their dogs (and cats).

The evening includes a performance by local comedian Denise Gutenschwager–also known by her alter ego, Evelyn Smallbladder. She'll be serving up jokes on the joys and pains of being a woman, including surviving middle age.

“This event provides a different angle focusing on women and we think it is a great opportunity for some creative 'March Madness' of our own," said Shelter Executive Director Elaine Greene. “We hope to see new faces and make new friends to support the animals in our care.”
