Stormy Saturday: Dearborn Sees Hundreds of Power Outages, Downed Trees

Severe thunderstorms Saturday night brought hail, rain and high winds through much of Wayne County.

Severe thunderstorms that swept through Wayne County on Saturday evening brought pea-sized hail, torrential rain, lightening and damaging winds to Dearborn.

The storms caused power outages throughout various parts of the city, as well as downed trees and flooded roads–the worst of which was on Greenfield Road.

DTE Energy reported outages for hundreds of customers near Oakwood Road and Rotunda Drive, just east of Telegraph Road on the west end, and west of Greenfield Road between Ford Road and Michigan Avenue.

and the also lost power. The station reported, however, that it was running off of a generator.

Multiple traffic intersections also lost power. Police reported at 11:30 p.m. that officers were working to set up generators and stop signs at downed traffic stops.

Major outages in Wayne County were also reported in Westland, Lincoln Park, Inkster and Dearborn Heights. DTE Energy announced no set time for power to be restored.
