Local Businesses Take Part in Salvation Army Kettle Drive

Buddy's Pizza and Co-Op Credit Union are among the Dearborn businesses participating in the fundraiser.

Salvation Army's popular red kettle won't just be a place to drop change at the grocery store or mall this winter.

Patrons of participating businesses–including and locations throughout metro Detroit–will be able to purchase little red paper kettles to be displayed as a fundraiser for the local nonprofit. Kettles will cost $1 each and will be displayed with donors' names at the businesses.

“With Michigan’s poverty rate now at 16.8 percent, we are grateful partners like Buddy’s have joined together to support The Salvation Army in doing the most good during this time of need,” said Major Mark Anderson, general secretary and metro Detroit area commander of the Salvation Army. “Each and every dollar makes a real difference in the lives of those in need.”

“The growing display of Red Kettles in our lobbies during the holiday season shows the tremendous generosity of members and staff who readily help others less fortunate in our community,” added Lisa Fawcett, marketing director of Co-op Services Credit Union.

Buddy's Pizza has nine locations in metro Detroit, including one on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn. Co-Op Services has eight locations in the area, with a Dearborn branch on Michigan Avenue. Both are located in west downtown.
