Edsel Honor Students Ramp Up Beggin' for Bones Fundraising
The Dearborn Animal Shelter fundraiser asks student groups to raise funds through Halloween.
Beggin' for Bones–the annual October fundraiser for the –is well under way, and 's National Honor Society is looking home to take the top honor for the second year in a row.
"The National Honor Society is ready for Beggin for Bones," said Edsel Ford Senior Counselor Gail Welmers, who is helping to organize the group's effort. "We already have our cans from last year. Last year we won the Golden Bone!"
The group held a kickoff event on Tuesday, Oct. 18, to hand out canisters to around 40 students and get them excited to fundraise. They even had a special visit from shelter dog Cambry.

Beggin' for Bones in a fundraising war for the shelter. The winner gets the coveted Golden Bone award, as well as a party for their group and their photo featured in Dearborn Patch.
Participating groups this year include the Edsel Ford NHS group, as well as 's fifth grade class and Edsel math teacher Kimberly O'Rourke's classes.
