Dearborn Goodfellows Kick Off Holiday Paper Drive

Paper sales Dec. 2 and 3 will raise funds for children's gift boxes.

The Dearborn Goodfellows kicked off their annual Holiday Paper Drive on Monday on the steps of , where around 70 community volunteers gathered for their paper drive photo.

The drive raises funds to purchase Christmas presents for the children of Dearborn families in need. Each year, the Goodfellows raise thousands of dollars by selling newspapers created specifically for the event. With the funds, presents are distributed in collaboration with other local charities–such as –to children throughout the city.

This year's drive will take place Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3 at various locations throughout the city, including street corners and businesses.

Gift boxes will then be packaged on Dec. 23 and distributed to families on Christmas Eve.

"Our goal is to provide every needy Dearborn child with a Christmas," the group reported in a release on the event.
