Dearborn Animal Shelter Needs Your Votes to Win $100K

The shelter is in the running for the ASPCA's Rachael Ray $100K Challenge.

The is one of 13 sheltering organizations in the North Central division chosen to compete in the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. It is the only organization in metro Detroit in the competition and needs help to land in the final round.

The $100K Challenge is an opportunity for animal shelters across the country to save more lives and get rewarded for it. It's a competition that inspires shelters and their communities to come up with innovative ways to save at least 300 more dogs and cats within a three-month period than were saved during the same three months the year before.

And the Dearborn Animal Shelter could win between $5,000 and $125,000.

“Our staff and volunteers are ready and excited to take a shot at saving more lives than we ever have before," said Elaine Greene, executive director of the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter. "We need the community to help us get into the competition by voting for us once each day during the campaign. It is a great way to help the animals with a few computer clicks."

The only way for the Dearborn Animal Shelter to get into the $100K Challenge is to ask the community to vote for the organization. There are 108 shelters vying for the challenge and only the top 50 vote-getters will advance.
