Dearborn Homecoming Festival Includes "All-Stars Day" for Special Needs Youths

Wade Shows, Inc. will provide free rides for special needs attendees at Dearborn Homecoming on Aug. 2.

This year, as part of the annual Dearborn Homecoming Festival on Aug. 2, the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce will partner with the Dearborn Community Fund and the city of Dearborn for a “Special All-Stars Day.”

The event, patterned after a similar event held during the Traverse City Cherry Festival, was created to give children and adults with special needs an opportunity to ride select carnival rides.

From 9 a.m. to noon at Ford Field Park, volunteers will offer games, activities, a dance party, face painting and snacks. From 9 to 11 a.m., children and adults with special needs can enjoy The Fun House, tea cup ride, Tilt-a-whirl, ferris wheel, bumper cars, merry-go-round, Super Slide and bumble bee ride for free. Light refreshments will be served next to the tennis courts. Wheelchair repair and a visit to a Dearborn fire truck will also be offered.
