The Week Ahead in Dearborn Sports: Sept. 26-Oct. 2

From football to soccer to cross country, here's the games we're watching this week.

One month into the fall sports season, things have really started to heat up. Intense rivalries, tough losses and triumphant comebacks are all par for the course as Dearborn's high school sports teams look to make state championship runs.

Here's a look at the games we're watching this week.

Football - The Last Rivalry

While 's team takes a trip out of town this week to battle Elkhart Central High School on Friday (a game that, if won, will secure their spot in the playoffs), and will face off for the last of the regular season's in-city football rivalries.

Fordson enters the game with a powerful 42-13 win in their pockets , while Edsel Ford comes home from . Their records this season are 3-2 for Fordson and 2-3 for Edsel.

Girls Golf

The All-City Tournament takes place at the on Tuesday.

Beginning at 9 a.m., , Dearborn High and Edsel Ford's girls golf teams will take on each other for a city champ title. The tournament will be made all the more interesting considering the fact that the Pioneers have yet to lose a match this season.

Cross Country

Boys and girls cross-country teams from Dearborn High will head to the Carl Schoensee Memorial Invitational at Center Line High School on Saturday. That event begins at 10 a.m.

But Dearborn's other cross-country teams–from Fordson, Edsel Ford and Divine Child–will all stay home for the Falcon Invitational, which takes place on the same day. That event will be held at in Dearborn, and will start at 9 a.m.
