The Week Ahead in Dearborn Sports: Oct. 3-9

Big tournaments, and the start of regional matchups make this one exciting week for high school sports.

With most regional games less than a month away (and some starting this week!), it's time for Dearborn teams to ramp up their efforts in preparation for making state championship runs. Here are the games and teams we're watching this week.

Girls Golf

Regionals take place this week for Dearborn's girls golf teams.

plays at Northville's Tanglewood Golf Course on Thursday, while heads to Farmington Hills' Fox Hills on Friday. Finally, 's team plays at Orchard Lake Country Club on Thursday as well.

The Pioneers are heading into regionals especially confident, after winning three tournaments last week to cap off their 8-0 season.

Volleyball

and Dearborn High's girls volleyball teams will take on each other in the Pioneers' court at 7 p.m. Monday.

The game will prepare both teams for Saturday tournaments. Fordson will take a trip across town for a tournament at the at 9 a.m., while DHS will head to Northville High for a tournament at the same time.

Cross-Country

Dearborn and Fordson will meet again, when their girls and boys cross-country teams face off in a tournament with Garden City on Wednesday. The meets begin at 4 p.m. at .

Fordson's cross-country teams will be up and running again at the Wayne County Championships at Willow Metropark on Saturday. and 's runners will be there, too. The feet hit the pavement beginning at 10 a.m.
