Red Wings' Rafalski Retires from Hockey

Brian Rafalski, a Dearborn native, retires after a career that included three Stanley Cup championships.

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brian Rafalski, a Dearborn native, announced his retirement after a storied hockey career, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The 37-year-old Rafalski said injuries had taken a toll on his body, The Detroit News said. He said the last season was the most challenging of his career, according to MLive.com.

Rafalski won three Stanley Cups in his career—two with the New Jersey Devils and one with the Detroit Red Wings.
