Dearborn Fire Department Hockey to Host Charity Classic Game

The Dearborn Fire Department Hockey Team will take on the Dearborn Hockey Association Hockey Coaches in a charity hockey game this Sunday with raffles, prizes and, of course, a great hockey game.

Proceeds from the game and fundraisers will be split between the Dearborn Hockey Association, as well as helping out the family of a recently deceased Dearborn teacher.

economics teacher Michael Grenfell after losing his battle with a rare blood disease.

The loss to both his family and the Dearborn community prompted the DFD to make the decision to set aside part of the proceeds for Grenfell's family. Specifically, the funds will be used to help send his teenage son and daughter to college.

Proceeds to the Dearborn Hockey Association will be used to help offset the costs for kids to play in the group's youth league.

A pre-game ceremony will begin at 6:15 p.m., during which Grenfell's wife and children will drop a ceremonial puck.

The game is free to attend, but donations to both causes will be encouraged throughout the evening.
