The track team scored points in 10 of 15 events, and cruised to its second straight title on June 1.

The girls of Divine Child High School's varsity track team have a lot to be proud of following the team's strong season finish on June 1.

With 81 points, the team cruised to its second straight Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 state championship. The team scored points in 10 of the 15 events at the state meet, held at Grand Rapids Forest Hills Eastern High School.

“We are a team of one, and we have demonstrated that throughout the year," coach Anthony Mifsud told the MHSAA.

This is the third championship for the varsity track team. The team's previous championships were in 2010 and 2012. It also marks the 50th time a team from Dearborn or Dearborn Heights earned a MHSAA-sponsored state title.
