Divine Child Cheer Takes Second in State Finals

The team lost the state title by less than one point in Saturday's competition.

Divine Child's varsity cheer team took home second place at the Division 2 state finals on Saturday at the Grand Rapids DeltaPlex. The team fell less than 10 points short of the title, coming in second to the team that won the state championship in 2011 and 2012: Gibraltar Carlson.

DC's cheer squad came in with a score of 772.92 (232.1, 226.62 and 314.2). Gibraltar's final score was 782.48.

Overall, it was a successful season for the No. 2 ranked DC cheer team.

After placing second in districts, the team went on to win their regional competition on Saturday, Feb. 16. The girls also took home their 11th consecutive Detroit Catholic High School League title in January.
