Dearborn Teams Lead the Pack in Guido Showcase

The annual basketball tournament is held to raise funds for the Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Edsel Ford High School hosted the annual Guido Showcase on Wednesday. The annual Dearborn-based tournament raises funds for the Karmanos Cancer Institute. in memory of former Dearborn Mayor Michael Guido, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2006.

Basketball teams from Dearborn High, Fordson High, Edsel Ford and Divine Child competed against other area schools in the tournament. The showcase is usually held over two days during the district's winter break, but was condensed to one.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Ali Farhat—playing with the Pioneers—was the stand-out player of the day. Farhat scored 37 points in the team's win over Detroit Catholic Cental, including seven 3-pointers.
