Dearborn Preps to Play Ball

The Detroit Tigers aren't the only team celebrating opening day–Dearborn's high school baseball seasons are now in full swing.

It’s in full swing now!

The spring sports season is under way for just about every squad beginning Monday afternoon, and after nearly a month of calm, the hectic pace of a prep sport is back in action.

With the Detroit Tigers home opener looming at the end of this week, it’s only natural for us to have baseball on the brain.

Let's take a quick moment here to give fans a glimpse at one of the area’s local ball clubs, as well as one of the top players in the state this season: and senior Eric Haase.

The Ohio State-bound catcher is currently ranked as the No. 2 senior in the state of Michigan according to Michiganbaseballprospects.org, and is undoubtedly the best player in the area.

Haase and his Falcons charge into the 2011 campaign as the defending champions in the Catholic League’s Central Division.

Brother Rice, St. Mary’s and De La Salle figure to give the DC boys a run for their money this season.

As for when you can catch the Falcons in action this week?

The squad squares off against none other than Brother Rice High School Wednesday afternoon at home. The first pitch is slated for 4 p.m.

Other baseball action can be found at Wednesday afternoon as well. Come out and watch the Pioneers battle Redford Union at home. This game is also scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

On the same day, beginning at the same time as the previous contest, baseball will play host to Robichaud High, while rounds out the Wednesday afternoon baseball-bonanza with a home game against Thurston High.

Take a few minutes and catch some innings of a game this week. 

Not only will you see great baseball, but you’ll also catch a case of Spring Fever, because there is nothing that says springtime more than baseball.
