Dearborn Plays Ball!

Here's hoping the weather cooperates and fans get a chance to catch some prep baseball.

Well sports fans, the weather promises to be a touch better this week. So, working under that assumption, we here in the Pick of the Week Department are going to bring to you a slate of upcoming games with the hopes that you actually might be able to see them.

The rain outs, delays and postponements have been nothing short of unprecedented and haven’t done much to get anybody fired up about the season.

That, however, changes this week (fingers crossed, anyhow).

But before we look ahead, we’re going to take a quick look back at some of the more notable happenings last week (of the few games that actually got played).

We want to congratulate all the baseball and softball teams who competed in the annual City Tournament Saturday. Every team did the city proud, but gets an extra tip of the cap for winning both the –in dramatic fashion over –and titles.

Congrats, Falcons and Lady Falcons.

Now, onward with our optimistic view of the week ahead:

  • Edsel’s baseball team gets a chance to play one of the teams they didn’t play in the City Tournament––Wednesday at home beginning at 4 p.m.
  • The Pioneers baseball squad has a trio of league games this week, the most interesting at home against Romulus High Wednesday. The first pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
  • Keeping with our baseball theme, DC hosts one of Macomb County’s top squads and Catholic League rival Warren De La Salle Friday at 4 p.m. A doubleheader is scheduled so if you can’t make the first game catch the second at 6 p.m.
