Dearborn Hills Gives Golfers Wonderful Alternative to Traditional Links

This local course is well-suited for players of all skill levels and should offer a great season–if the winter weather ever lets up.

It's been a slow start to the golf season with snow in the middle of April and a chill that just won't let go. But at one of the most unique golf courses in the area, nothing can stop golfers from starting their season.

, located at 1300 S. Telegraph, offers golfers from all over southeast Michigan a challenge that is worth checking out—regardless of the skill level of the player.

For the beginner, the course has everything needed to learn from, including sand, water and woodlands.

For the more advanced player, Dearborn Hills requires something that is sometimes difficult to find in an age of 7,000-plus yard courses and three-shot par 5s: excellent course management and precision shots.

Because Dearborn Hills doesn’t have any par 5 holes (the course is comprised of 12 par 3s and six par 4s), there is a demand for precise shot making and good course management.

Also, with four sets of tees, the 18-hole layout gives players a different look from each tee box.

“We’re not a traditional golf course,” Dearborn Hills general manager Lee Morris said. “But the course is still challenging for all skill levels.”

Another advantage Dearborn Hills offers golfers is pace.

Players can complete 18 holes in as little as three hours—meaning this is the perfect place to get that quick round of golf in before sunset or on the weekend.

“We know that people nowadays are strapped for time,” Morris said. “This is a course where you can play a full round of golf in a reasonable amount of time.”

Dearborn Hills is also the perfect couples course, he said, and has a layout that is very well-suited to women and families.

“We are a very woman-friendly course,” Morris said. “It’s a place where men can bring their wives or girlfriends and have a really good experience golfing.”

The course sets up nicely for women.

The absence of par 5 holes, coupled with the unique challenges of the course from the forward tees, makes Dearborn Hills an ideal track for women of all skill levels.

The course also sports a top-notch, 7,000-square-foot clubhouse featuring the Grille Room restaurant and has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades—including a 3.5-star rating from Golf Digest’s “Best Places To Play.”

Dearborn Hills has plenty of league openings for the upcoming season, including several for seniors (men and women), couples and a junior league and clinic.

Greens fees at the course range from $14.50 to walk nine holes during the week to $34.50 for 18 holes with cart on weekends and holidays. Senior and junior rates are also available.
