Dearborn High School Alum Will Play for Lebanese National Soccer Team

Soony Saad will play with the Lebanese team against Oman on May 30.

Dearborn High School alum Soony Saad has been called to play with the Lebanese National Soccer Team for its international friendly tournament with Oman on May 30.

The Daily Wiz.com reports that Saad currently plays for the Sporting Kansas City team in Major League Soccer.

Saad is an international sports celebrity for soccer fans.

According to ESPN Rise, Saad set a state single-season record with 76 goals in his 2009 season while concluding his high school career with a state record 172 goals, plus 51 assists; breaking previous state high school single-season goals record of 69 set in 2000, and previous state high school career goals record of 169 set in 1995.

In 2009, Saad was named the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year for his talents on the field and in the classroom at Dearborn High.

Saad also played briefly for the University of Michigan before joining Major League Soccer.

Saad will be gone from May 25-31 in preparation of the Lebanon friendly with Oman. He will miss the U.S. Open Cup third round match on May 28.
