Dearborn Athlete Earns All-Academic Honor for Cross Country

Dearborn resident Annie Okonowski was one of six runners named to the conference's All-Academic team.


Dearborn resident Annie Okonowski was one of six runners from Wayne State University's women's cross country team named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's All-Academic team.

The athletes earned GLIAC All-Academic recognition for the 2013-14 fall semester for having cumulative grade-point averages between 3.0 and 4.0, the university reported.

Okonowski is a sophomore at Wayne State University, and graduated from Divine Child High School in 2012. 

During her time at Divine Child, she earned eight varsity letters for the Falcons in cross country and track, helped earn three league titles in cross country, and was selected to the Academic All-State Team, among other honors.

She was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in the Winter 2013 semester, which requires a term GPA of 3.5 or above, and was also named to the Coach's Honor Roll for Fall 2012.

She is currently studying liberal arts and sciences at Wayne State.
