Whiz Kid: Alec Koscielniak is a Stellar Student

Accomplishment: Only in second grade at Sacred Heart School, Alec Koscielniak has already made a name for himself as a great student. He's at the top of his class in all academic areas, and teachers say he's a leader in the classroom, too.

Key to awesomeness:

Koscielniak's teacher says of her student that his success in the classroom can be attributed to a combination of good manners and an eagerness to learn.

"Alec is always paying attention and always participating in class discussions," she says. "He raises his hand to offer answers and is always ready to work."

Outside of class, Koscielniak is a member of Sacred Heart's Children's Choir, which performs at school and church events throughout the year. He's also a Cub Scout and stays active by playing soccer and baseball.

Koscielniak lives with his family in Dearborn.
