"The future is in good hands with these honorees," Artis said.

Criteria for winning the Past Presidents’ Leadership Scholarship include: academic achievement, community service, leadership, an essay demonstrating a commitment to the Rotary Club's "Four-Way Test" — a guideline for decisions, and be a graduating senior from Dearborn Public Schools.

The Dearborn Rotary Club, through the Dearborn Rotary Foundation, awards the college scholarships, which are made possible through an endowment funded by Robert M. Young, a retired Dearborn Public Schools educator and former Dearborn Rotary president. The awards are also supported by gifts from other Dearborn Rotary past presidents, rotarians, and supporters of Dearborn Public Schools.

GPAs for the three honorees ranged from 3.83 to 4.36. Some of the groups and activities that the students individually participated in included: National Honor Society, athletics, student council, Link Crew, Sadr Foundation, tutoring, band boosters, ACCESS Acts, Generation of Promise, Model UN, and their church community.

The application process for the scholarship begins each year in December. All applications must be supported by Dearborn Public Schools officials and submitted by a designated date in January.
