UPDATE: Friday Basketball Postponed Due to Schools' Snow Day

Heavy snowfall beginning Thursday evening caused many Michigan districts to cancel classes.

Update, 12 p.m.: According to Dearborn Public Schools, Friday night's varsity basketball games have been postponed.

The girls teams from Dearborn and Fordson were scheduled to play at 5:30 p.m., while the boys were set to play at 7 p.m. Both games were scheduled at DHS.

The games will now be played on Monday, Feb. 11, at the same game times.

Dearborn Public Schools will be closed Friday due to a snowstorm that fell during the night and continued to blanket the region Friday morning.

All school activities and events are canceled. 

Advanced Technology Academy, Dearborn Christian School, Divine Child schools, the Muslim American Youth Academy, West Village Academy, Dearborn Early Learning Center, Dearborn Academy, Riverside Academy and Sacred Heart School will also be closed.

Westwood, Crestwood and Dearborn Heights District No. 7 will also be closed—among a slew of others. More than 500 closings have been reported, according to WDIV.

University of Michigan-Dearborn and Henry Ford Community College also are closed.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch Thursday, predicting that southeast Michigan would get hit with anywhere from 2-6 inches of snow.
