The annual event is hosted by the Dearborn Education Foundation.

The Dearborn Education Foundation is bringing Mardi Gras to Michigan with its annual fundraiser.

The annual event takes place at the Dearborn Hills Golf Course on Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 3:30-9 p.m. It includes live music, food and a silent auction. Plus it's the last chance to purchase a ticket for the DEF's Big Shot Raffle—a $1,000 raffle ticket with a $50,000 payout to the winner.

This years silent auction will include such items as tickets to see the Detroit Tigers, hotel packages, laptops, a wine tasting party, handmade items, and autographed merchandise.

This event raises tens of thousands of dollars to help fund grant requests made by the teachers in Dearborn Public Schools. Their needs range from musical instruments and math and science teaching tools to classroom equipment and technology.

In 2012, the DEF . The nonprofit has funded more than $1.5 million in teacher grants since its inception.

Tickets to the Mardi Gras fundraiser are available for $20 in advance, or $25 at the door. If you are interested in being a Mardi Gras sponsor, or donating to the silent auction donation, forms for both are available on line at www.dearbornedfoundation.org.
